James 3:13-17

James 3: 13-17 : Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusing and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. : these verses show the benefits of the wisdom of the godly and the fault of the prideful and wisdom of the worldly. For the godly man, godly wisdom is essential for his walk with Christ and his meekness shows how hes ready to surrender to authority when it crosses paths with him. The meek man wont argue with the authority placed over him and will obey the authority of God.Then there is the self seeking man, he is bitter, and envious, a liar who wont speak truth. hateful in his ways and demonic in demeanor who has no respect for Gods authority or the authority put over him. This man is bound for a epic fail in society and worse, bound for judgement. hes rebellious and puffed up with pride. he doesnt have a care in the world for Gods rules and is cruel . unlike the godly man, the self-seeking man only cares for himself, hes selfish and wants his way and is the man who would be enraged if things dont go his way. Now we must think to ourselves, who do we want to be like, the godly man who is blessed by God to be meek and to be caring towards others and submits to authority? or the self-seeking man who is puffed up in pride and only cares about himself and rebels against Gods authority? we have to choose who we want to be like; godly? or selfish. When it comes to sacrificing our all, laying down our past lives and following our Lord, nevertheless doing our Heavenly Fathers work , we must think about being more like the godly meek man , who submits to authority no matter how strict they are and how it might be. God put that authority in our lives, not to harm us, but to help us and correct us when we are in the wrong.  Here at Ignite, we find that when we sign those papers, we are signing a contract that says we will submit to the authority placed over us, we are not signing those papers saying that we are going to rebel. this should be a lesson to all the interns at Ignite, God was nice enough to even call us here , now we must do our part and respect the authority he placed over us in advance. If we are to go out into the mission field, we must train ourselves to automatically except the discipline and authority we need to succed in our goals and do Gods marvelous work.

APPLICATION: I got a lot out of these verses in the book of James, and they have taught me well. Tomorrow I will listen to the authority that has been placed over me and wont complain when i am  asked to do something, like help with cleaning or whatever i will be told to do , i will do my work unto the Lord and will fully and entirely obey without rebellion or pouting. Thankyou dear Father in Heaven , for showing me the true meaning of authority and discipline.
